Making scrambled eggs is straightforward, and there are a few different ways to obtain wonderful results. Here's a basic recipe for traditional scrambled eggs:
Ingredients:
2-4 eggs (per person)
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
1 tablespoon butter or cooking oil
Milk, cream, shredded cheese, herbs, or other flavourings are optional.
Instructions:
Crack the Eggs: In a bowl, crack the desired amount of eggs. Depending on your preferences, you can use 2-4 eggs per person.
Seasoning: Season the eggs with a touch of salt and a dash of black pepper. If you prefer fluffier eggs, you can add a dash of milk or cream, but this is optional.
Whisk the eggs and seasonings until the yolks and whites are evenly mixed. Whisking thoroughly incorporates air into the eggs, resulting in a fluffier texture.
Preheat a nonstick skillet or frying pan over medium-low heat. 1 tablespoon of butter or cooking oil should be added to the pan. Allow the butter to melt and coat the pan's bottom.
Pour the Whisked Eggs: Pour the heated pan with the whisked eggs. Allow them to sit undisturbed for a few seconds, or until the edges begin to set.
Scramble: Using a spatula, gently press the cooked edges of the eggs towards the centre of the pan. Allow the raw eggs to run to the pan's edges by tilting it.
Continue to cook the eggs by gently swirling and pushing them around the pan. The idea is to make soft, curd-like egg bits. Be patient and do not rush through the process. When the eggs are mostly set but still slightly creamy, they are done.
Optional Extras: Add cheese, herbs, or other things a minute or two before the eggs are thoroughly cooked. Stir them in until well combined.
Remove the pan from the heat just before the eggs are completely cooked. As you dish them, the residual heat will continue to cook them.
Serve the scrambled eggs right away, while they're still soft and creamy. If preferred, top with more herbs, cheese, or a sprinkle of pepper.
Tips:
To make cleanup easier and to keep the eggs from sticking to the pan, use a nonstick skillet.
Cooking time should be adjusted to get the desired level of doneness. Some people enjoy slightly runny eggs, while others prefer completely cooked eggs.
Cooking scrambled eggs over high heat might result in overcooking and a rubbery texture.
Experiment with different components to customise your scrambled eggs, such as sautéed vegetables, prepared meats, or different types of cheese.
Always remember that practise makes perfect. With a little trial and error, you'll find the proper timing and method for making scrambled eggs just the way you like them.
